She was previously married and had a son
Lynette was married to Melanie Bright for twelve years. Melanie is a marketing communications expert with over twenty years of experience in her field. She has quite an interesting professional background, collaborating with different institutions and apparently is just as successful in her career as her ex-partner.
Nusbacher and Bright met at the Royal Military College and dated for a year before marrying. By 2010, three years after Nusbacher's gender reassignment, they were happily married. The former couple went their separate ways without revealing the reason for the divorce. However, it can be assumed that the historian's decision to switch from one sex to the other was a major, if not the only, contributor to this.
While they were together, they were blessed with two daughters and a son. However, the former couple chose to keep their children away from the media and hence there is no information about them. Melanie Bright reportedly left with the kids after the divorce.

Because she was a person of great influence and still doing what she really wanted, her decision sparked various conversations in the US and in the UK.
